Commodore to make a return as gaming PC

Commodore Gaming has announced it will launch a new breed of gaming PCs that will see the return of the legendary Commodore brand.

Interesting, C64s was before my time. Didn't start using computers til 95 and didn't really mess with them til 98-99. But even then I've heard of a Commodore. Of course I had no clue what the hell they was I'm sure the name itself will help sell them.

Commodores brings back good memories. It was a good gaming computer for its time, and it will be interesting to see if they have anything to offer that others haven't already or if they will be just another gaming PC.

My first pc was a Commodore 64. I had two floppy drives so I wouldn't have to keep changing disks so often.

Ya can't keep a good thing down! I have many fond memories of the Commodore 64. Look at screenshots of C64 games and compare them with today's graphics....we've come a loooonnnnngggg way is a relatively short time. It's amazing.

CCS64 is an excellent C64 emulator that works on Win98, WinMe and WinXP at least.

Plenty of sites around with games on them too that it can use.

I started out on a C64 too. I taught myself Assembler programming on it. Happy days I longed for an Amiga when it came out, but at the time I just couldn't afford one.

I'm telling you d/l the CCS64 emulator and Google C64 games for some sites to d/l them from and bring back those youthful days of playing Impossible Mission, Green Beret, Rambo, Yie Ar Kungfu, International Karate.

Yeah the graphics are average but hey what do you expect from games that are 20+ years old in most cases.

The nostalgia is priceless.

Some more info...

The high-end XX packs enough grunt to make an Alienware machine run to its deformed alien mum. It uses an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 quad-core processor, 4GB of RAM and two Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX graphics cards running in tandem. The bottom G wimps out with an E6320 1.83GHz dual-core chip, 2GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS -- but even this is fast enough to run most games.

If the specs alone don't rock your world, just check out the gorgeous cases they come in. Commodore Gaming PCs are fitted with interchangeable 'C-Kin' panels so you can customise them to your heart's content. There are literally dozens of designs to choose from including the Classic Commodore Jupiter Lander and Louis Vuitton (both pictured).
