[RESOLVED] Can't see myself on webcam in Windows Live Messenger
I hope this is the correct place for this post.
I am using Windows XP with SP3 and IE7. I have Windows Live Messenger 2009, as well as Yahoo Messenger and Skype.
My webcam works fine on the latter two Messengers, but only partially on Windows Live Messenger. I can see my contact and my contact can see me. But I can't see myself. Only a big red bar across the pace where I should have appeared.
I have goggled to find the solution and only managed to find one where it says changing my location in my profile will resolve this problem. But this did not worked.
I tried to do a repair by going to Control Panel -- Add/Remove --- and Windows Essential as someone else suggested, which apparently will resolve this Windows Live Messenger 2009 inherent problem. BUT...when I clicked on the Change/Remove for Windows Essential, nothing happens.
I then used Revo Uninstall to delete Windows Essential and all its components. But when I tried to reinstall it again, is shows that this is already installed. But I have no icon or any link to Windows Live Messenger !
In the end I had to use the Restore to roll back to before using Revo Uninstall.
But the problem about not being able to see myself when using the webcam remains. When I use the Windows Live Messenger Audio and Video Setup from Tools, I can see myself on the webcam and everything works there.
I hope someone here can help me. Many thanks.
