    Win Picture & Fax Viewer

Can someone tell me where to get Windows Picture & Fax Viewer? We are using a new hdd with Win XP Pro installed, but we cannot find the program anywhere. We had it on the older hdd we are no longer using and it had Win XP Pro as well. Thanks.

    Win Pic&Fax is built-in. It's not a standalone app.

You can manually invoke it by running:
    rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen

If you need a standalone app, you can try Irfanview instead.

    Found this:
Another approach to re-installing Windows Picture and Fax Viewer is to click on Start, Run... and type in:

    regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll

and press OK. Then press OK again on the resulting success message.

Ok got the program on there but it will not allow us to resize. Is there an add-on that allows that? The Win Pic & Fax Viewer we had on the other hdd if you right clicked on it you could resize the pics in the program. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

pennydog: Another primo alternative to the Windows picture viewer is the free FastStone Image Viewer. http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm It can do soooo many things and IMO, is easy to use. It's on every PC I set up for myself, friends and family.
