AVG finds embedded virus how do I remove

Just run my AGV antivirus and it has found three viruses - it has not removed or quarantined them. How do I remove them - just delete the files or is it a bit more complicated. The files are shown in the attachment.

First delete your Java cache/temp internet files.. in control panel>Java. Then delete regular temp internet files/browser cache just for good measure.

Then run AVG again and see if they were all deleted (they should be but if not let us know)

While you're in the Java interface in control panel check to see if you have the latest updated version... that will protect you against these types of viruses although the ones listed are fairly old and all of the recent versions of Java are immune to them despite them being found on the drive.

Thanks Fink - never heard of deleting Java files through control panel before. I always thought the regular temp files delete would have done these. However I did it and then ran AVG full scan again and no viruses. Will check it out tomorrow morning at startup and let you know.

The Java temp files are for Java applets only. They're stored there rather than the regular temp internet folders.

I have mine set to not store any Java temp files at all since I have hispeed internet access and the re-downloading of the occasional Java applet and related files makes nearly no difference to me. If I was on dialup I'd think differently since some larger applets can take some time to download that way.

If I do happen to pick up one of those Java/byteverify viruses they don't stick around in the cache so I never get warned about them when I do a full a/v scan.
