    udfreader_xp.sys stop error

Hi my friend was mucking around with his computer and he found a program in the add/remove programs section, it was called 'NAVHELPER' he removed it and after he did his computer will boot to the login screen and then it reboots.
I turned off the restart on sytem failure and this is the stop error message.

    RDR_FILE_SYSTEM

    (The usual stuff here)

    STOP: 0x00000027 (0xBAAD009C, 0xF8B7960c, 0F8B79308, 0xF6658E0A)

    udfreader_xp.sys Address F6658E0A base at F662B000 date stamp 3e81fc4f

    Any ideas,
We can get into "safe mode"
    We tried sfc /scannow
We tried booting from the CD and using the repair option "R" and typing at C:\windows\system32 copy userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe
Tried Systen restore but it keeps saying it can't restore the date we specify.
Please any help would be appreciated.

He has Roxio 5 Platinum with all the updates and the computer has been restarted a dozen times since its been installed.
I don't know why it would crash after navhelper was removed.
If I go into msconfig and turn off direct cd so it won't load do you think that would help?
Or I saw on one site that this guy just renames udfreader_xp.sys to a .bak file and rebooted and he said it worked and the cd drive works fine

Renamed the udfreadr_xp.sys file to udfreadr_xp.bak and restarted with no problems.

Navhelper.exe is a nasty - I would advise you to run these three removal programs first, after updating the definitions:

    Spybot S & D

    Adaware

    Microsoft Windows Antispyware

Then unzip this program into its own permanent folder, run it and post the logfile in our Hijack This Logfile forum here:
