classic theme error
ok seems my classic theme has gone missing now i am an old dog and do not mind new things , sometimes bells and whistles are cute and fun , but when i go for a long walk , i perfer the comfort of an old pair of shoes. I's not the end of the world , but i'd sure like my old faithfull classic theme back
Running XP Pro , service pack 3 ...... always use the windows classic theme.
The other day i changed the theme to xp ..... and when i tried to change it back to the classic i get an error message.
I have searched here and on google for a possable classic theme download but no luck. So far all I have found are repairs for the opposite , people with missing or corrupt xp theme stuck in classic problems.
Hopefully the screen shot of the error message i uploaded worked
Any help would be appreciated , thanks in advance

If that doesn't work, download Windows Classic.theme.zip (1K) and unzip it to: C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
If that still doesn't solve the problem, click Start > Run, type in services.msc and press [Enter]. Scroll down to Themes and see if it's started. If not, right-click it and select Start. Then try to reset your Theme.

To be honest, I was afraid of this...
Your account got probably corrupted, have you tried to log in with an other account?
If there is no problem with another account, you have to create a new account for yourself and copy data from your old account to your new account.

Come to think of it. It *might* not be your profile but only one file.
Rename this file C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\Custom.theme to custom.themeOLD.
Windows will create a new file as soon as you change the theme.
Worth a try....
