[RESOLVED] D/ is inaccessable.
If i try to open a dvd that i have just burned a message comes up:windows cannot read from this disc,it might be corrupted or could be using a format not compatible with windows.
However i can open discs that ive burned prior to this message.
Ive changed discs and even reinstalled windows and it still continues.
Also if i try to open a blank disc it says D:/ is inaccessable.
HELP! Please.

I would use a lens cleaner cd and if I got the same message after cleaning, I'd replace the drive.

The drive is suing the wrong power setting for the laser when writing, sounds like. I agree with the others, just replace the drive, they're very cheap now.

When you bought your new drive did it come with instructions about placing the jumpers on the back and about the placement on the ribbon cable?

There was no instructions for the new drive but the fittings at the back are exactly the same as my old drive so I just swapped them over(cables that is,a power cable and a long flat black ?pinned cable).

tiltswitch--DVD's and DVD players come in two flavors (especially in older PC's). + and - (not like CD's)
Could it be that the DVD that you just burned was the wrong type for your player?
P.S. I am sure this is too involved an article, but I'll include it just for the record

Dont think its that mate.Ill review my problem:-
If i try to open a dvd that i have just burned a message comes up:windows cannot read from this disc,it might be corrupted or could be using a format not compatible with windows.
However i can open discs that ive burned prior to this problem and watch or copy them.
Ive changed discs, reinstalled windows and changed the dvd writer for a new one and it still continues.
Also if i try to open a blank disc it says D:/ is inaccessable.
But I can still burn dvd/cd using various progams(x2dvd,nero)just cant view and can only copy a disc if I use isobuster.
Any help gratefully received.
