Question Parents JUST purchased one of those Toshiba Satellites

They just got it, paid about 600 bucks....Intel, 3 gig ram...nice DVD writer.

Okay, recommendations tfor getting them "Setup"

Comes bundled with Norton 360, Ill know what you'll say about that. So Im asking what pre-bundled software I would uninstall vs installing new ones that you recommend.

Anything at ALL you could recommend when getting them started?

ALSO< comes with that 60-day trial of MS Office, how does that work, when time runs out, you purchase it? (And the cost of it?)

Can I install old MS Software on it (MS OFFICE XP?)

Can I install old MS Software on it (MS OFFICE XP?) -> Yes if you uninstall the trial version first.

Which would be the better AV...

    AVAST or Antivir?

Instead of using the FREE ed. How bout just go all out and purchase one of them, and if so , what do you recommend?

Which AV have you been using for the past many years? If it works for you, it should work for them.

    I use Avira.

With my lapper, I got rid of Nortons and the office trial.

    Installed Avira and Office 2000.

    They work fine.

Now since you have a laptop and would like the battery to last as long as possible!
