PC game closest to Playstation2 Gran Turismo

Anyone have suggestions? I haven't tried Gran Turismo 4, but I did try version 3 and it's awesome.

Hmm, i love 3 on the PS2, and 4 is good too, it just looked a lot different on the main menu and the choice of races sort of threw me a bit.

Closest PC game IMO would be something in the NFS series, they're not really as much about the cars and more about a certain theme, like in the newest "Most Wanted" which is based around the film 2 Fast 2 Furious.

I wish GT4 was brought to PC.....i'm can't wait for number 5, i've heard excellent things and saw a few video clips, looks good, they've paid close attention to the details and enhanced everything, coming to a PS3 console near you around my birthday.

EDIT: Here's the press conference/trailer for numero 5, entitled: "Vision Gran Turismo" : http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=1675

I bought a 4 game pack of the Need For Speed. Two of the NFS games say they're only for 95/98, but I haven't tried them for XP. So far I've only installed the Hot Pursuit 2 game, which IS pretty cool. Thanks for the recommendation! These games are older (which also makes them cheap! ) but still quite nice.

Yes, exactly - I was looking for more of a pure racing games rather than a theme based game. What I liked about GT3 was the variety - you could do street racing as well as rally racing. And the post-race replay was awesome!

I know, and when you pressed a button and the view/effect changed, i hope they bring some of those features to Vision.....

I thought of a couple more decent games, but i'm not sure if they are on PC, Driver 3 (Driv3r) and the Burnout series, although they're not like GT3 that much, they're quite fun.

You're Welcome, i had it a while ago, and i used a PS2 to usb controller converter and used my PS2 pad to play it, but i lost the disc and formatted since, i might buy it again though it is quite fun......"Underground" is good too, i've played that on Xbox.

    Hey, Happy new year!

If you like those type of games, you guys should try TOCA Race Driver 3 and GTR on PC. If u like Rally, the game TOCA was made by Codemaster, the same guys who worked on Colin McRae Rally. So u have a really nice rally game incorporate in it.

    theres some links:

    http://www.gamespot.com/pc/driving/t...ex.html?q=toca
    http://www.gamespot.com/pc/driving/gtr/index.html?q=GTR
    Nice games..

(Hey and if u guys want a really good usb racing wheel, try the Logitech MOMO, i think its the best PC wheel out there)

I will try those games as well - thanks. Yes, I really enjoyed the rally courses on GT3!

Liam, I bought a Saitek USB controller which looks a lot like a PS2 controller. It has force feedback as well. It took a little effort to get it to work with NFS Hot Pursuit 2, but I did get it to work. I still have some issues - like the controller settings are not being saved. The game finds both this controller and my Logitech joystick, but it claims these controllers are not "specifically recognized."

The first Google link i came across was this: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=270 which may be of use to you for the problem of remembering the button config.

Liam, that site was perfect - thanks!

I was able to add my Saitek controller. The only thing I need to figure out is the definitions.ini file shows some different terminology. The first time when I just added the info to the files, the game was able to recognize the controller (i.e., I didn't get that message at the start). However, I still had to manually define the controls. But Button 1 on the Saitek is called Button A by the game, etc. I have to now go back and read the mapping and put in the defaults the way I want.

No problemo, it looks a bit messy, good luck with sorting the buttons out.
