    HP 9000 Printer Configuration Question

I print to tray 3 by default. I don't want tray 2 to print when tray 3 becomes empty because the paper in tray 2 is too expensive.

I couldn't find a setting for this on the printers properties through windows or at the configuration screen at the printer.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

You should be able to do this by configuring the printer to print by paper type. You need to set up paper types and then designate the tray 2 paper as a different type so it won't be used when print jobs using the default type are sent to the printer. Page 57 of the user guide from the link below should be helpful.

Before your post, I played around with the manual to. I couldn't find out how to change that setting until someone came by and showed me that it was a setting at the printer itself (I searched for hours and couldn't find it). Thank you for working with me on this, and I hope this post helps someone else in the future.
