WinXP won't install
Trying to install WinXP Pro on a Asus A7S-vm socket A board. Has a Sis730S chipset. Have 228 meg ram and using an AMD 1 gig cpu. Starts to install then hangs. Tried several times. Wondering if this board needs a bios upgrade. Is Rev 1.02 E706 2/2001. It seems to get green line about half way across on preparing your computer and then hangs. I am going to check with Asus to see if they have a bios upgrade. Tried to set boot up in bios so would boot to cdrom but won't start the XP disk on boot. Like it is not seeing the disk. Had to start it manually.

get 6 floppys and go to www.bootdisk.com from there you can dnload a set of bootable floppys and it should go for you.

Did you run the compatability wizard to check your system?
It could also be the memory causing the problem as XP is extra fussy.

Hi one thing to check, make sure you don't have a bios virus checker enabled.
