Wireless speakers
Hi All - Summer is over, I've blown up my amp and my speakers and it's time to re-think my audio-visual experience. I have transferred a couple of hundred of my CDs to my PC and am considering going with wireless speakers but don't know anything about them. So, I know Fink would be able to give me a hint on how to move forward with this, onward ho!
Wireless speakers anyone?
Just trying to give others a friendly hand.

Hi..
Assuming you're going to use speakers that are ac powered as opposed to batteries which will eventually get very expensive and annoying then the process is largely the same as buying a pair of wired speakers.
Audition them in the store before you buy. I'd never buy a pair of speakers before listening to them at least not for a stereo system/music application. Also, stick to known name brands like jbl, sony, KEF, bose etc.
One thing to consider though, is a good chunk of the money you're spending is going to the electronics so if you pay 250 dollars you're really getting a 125 dollar pair of speakers so if sound quality is what you're going for think about either spending more or go with regular speakers and good quality flat speaker wire that you can run under a carpet or hide.
One other thing to consider is many of the available wireless systems are for rear speakers so you'll probably be somewhat limited in finding main speakers or at least ones with a subwoofer.

Thanks Fink - Just what I needed, a little guidance. I just don't inherently trust the people who are trying to sell me speakers at the store if you know what I mean. Not that I'm insinuating that they are all just profit driven salespeople, but...
Thanks for the advice, maybe I'll reconsider the wireless option at a future date.

Being the great procrastinator that I am, I haven't replaced them yet, nor have I pursued the matter any further. So I can't help you out there.
