Autorun or AutoPlay not working 2
I have Windows Me. I messed my computer and drivers up, and before this when I would insert a CD, it would bring up a setup menu or start the game. I would also be able to right-click on the Drive's icon in My Computer and it would list auto play as an option. But now, the disk doesn't automatically start up. AutoPlay isn't listed in My Computer. Also, I think one of my games is being affected by this error. (Sonic 3D Blast, [not Sonic and Knuckles]). Not only is it not starting up when I insert the disk, but when I go through My Computer, open up drive D, and click on the icon that is supposed to start it up, nothing happens. This is the only game that seems to be affected.
In device manager, the AutoInsert box is checked off. The Microsoft website recommends that you go to the registry, then to LOCAL_MACHINE, then to CD-ROM. My resgistry doesn't list my CD-ROM.
Ideas?
Thank you!

Windows Me For Dummies, corrections

Chapter 2, Page 22, Missing Autoplay Explanation
Windows Me offers an "AutoPlay" feature. When you place the CD into the drive, Windows Me notices, and automatically loads the disc's content. If Autoplay doesn't work, ... - Right-click on your Desktop's My Computer icon.
- Choose Properties from the pop-up menu.
- Click the Device Manager tab. (Make sure "View devices by type" is selected along the top.)
- Click the plus sign next to the word CDROM.
- Double-click your CD-ROM drive's name.
- Click the Settings tab.
- In the Options area, make sure there's a checkmark in the Auto Insert Notification box.
- Click OK until you've closed all the menus.
Windows Me should now notice when your CD is inserted into the drive.
One small caution, however; some older CD drives don’t understand the Autoplay feature. If your drive is four or five years old – and turning on the Auto insert notification feature doesn’t work, look for the CD manufacturer's Web site on the Web. If you're lucky, the manufacturer might be providing an updated driver for that drive. Lacking that, though, it might be time to upgrade.

Thank you for your advice. As it turns out, after several reboots and not changing any settings whatsoever, AutoPlay and Autorun started working again. However, I am still having a problem with only one of my games, Sonic 3D Blast. It is the only game still having a problem. When I try to open the game, nothing happens.

May want to start a new thread for that one.

I never did end up getting Sonic 3D Blast working on that computer, but I installed it on a new computer and it worked fine.
