Printer Goof-up
Up until a couple of weeks ago my Lexmark Z11 printer, which is installed on my Compaq Presario7240, has been working perfectly. All of a sudden it started printing with half the words sliding off the side of the page. It gives me the message, "A printer error has been detected, the carrier has stalled. The print job will be terminated." The only option it gives me after that is to cancel the print job. Any Suggestions?
Thanks,

"the carrier has stalled" would seem to indicate a hardware problem with the print head movement mechanism.

Thanks for replying so quickly, jdc2000. What can I do to fix the print head movement mechanism?

If you can get to it, you can check for obstructions and/or see if it is sticking at any point along its travel. Try this with the printer powered off and unplugged. Also, you might e-mail Lexmark's tech support to see if they have any suggestions. If parts are required, it probably isn't worth fixing though.

Reply to "Printer Goof-up"
Dear Photolady,
Apparently the problem just solved itself. One day I decided to try to print something, and it's been working perfectly ever since.
