Windows Vista will not boot up
Hello
I have used this site for malware and I appreciate it. I thought I had another malware issue but the mod over there had me open a thread here as it may be more of a windows issue
The PC I am sending this from is fine. My daughter's laptop (Dell running Vista) all of a sudden will not boot up (it happened after she had some redirects but apparently the OTL scan I privded was clean.)
When she tries to boot.....in any mode - normal, safe , etc... - it gets to the Dell logo screen and then jumps back to the "windows error recovery" screen.
I did download the OTLPE boot disk and can boot with that.

Thanks for your help.
I booted with the install disk and it eventually told me that it could not repair the system???? Any other suggetions???
BTW - I have checked with your intensive care group and there is no apparent malware/virus...etc

It might be worthwhile to run the manufacturer's diagnostics on the hard drive before doing anything else. Most of those can be found on the Ultimate Boot CD:
