Any Hard Driver diagnostic testers good, easy?

Looking for a hard drive diagnostic utility for all hard drives to see if they have any bad sectors. This is for external drive testing to use on other people's hard drives.

I use it thru a IDE to USB to check hard drives. XP won't give me a read out in the Event Viewer for results. Don't want to wait for the scan to finish to see the three second result. Want to start it and walk away from it and get the results later.

Vista does. I don't want to use Vista for this only my XP computer.

I am trying Bart's Stuff Test right now to see how that works.

    Also downloaded HDDScan.

Is there any favorites out there that I can run thru Windows and see results of the scan like bad sectors?
Note: My questions may be to help others
    Thanks, JB

Seagate seatools for Windows can diag external drives. In general, you should use the manufacturer's diag program.

Download Ultimate Boot CD, it has all the drive diagnostic utilities on it, then you can use whichever one you need.

Bart's Stuff Test did a test but did not tell me any results. I guess my drive was good but it still should of told me. Ok, I will be deleting Bart's Stuff Test from my computer.

Ok, went to your link but there is no download for the UBDCD or instructions on how to put it on a CD.

The link for UBCD5 Beta is in my signature.

Read the FAQ for instructions on how to burn an iso to disc:
