WinMe & 2nd hdd

i recently installed a 2nd hdd & set it up n bios as my primary slave/auto detect. it is detected n my p.o.s.t but WinMe does not show it n scandisk & norton disk dr gives an error dialog box saying it cannot find any dos partition on my 2nd hdd (which indicates it detected it), the resultant norton search of my 2nd hdd turns up nothing. does anyone know how 2 have WinMe detect this or why it will not detect it.

You need to run Fdisk from Dos - Partition the new HD - Format the new HD and then ME will detect it as a new HD.
