Network Places
I get a runtime error with option to debug whenever I open "My Network Places" with WinMe and the "Folder Options" set to HTML view. Works fine without HTML view though. Anybody have any idea as to how to fix the problem.
ERROR is : "A Runtime error has occurred to you wish to debug?
Line: 205
Error: Unspecified Error
|YES| |NO|
I have tried clicking yes to debug, but it does the same thing as no, which is ofcourse, it pops up another runtime error with the exact same message.
I have tried copying the htt files for Network Places from a working computer on the network, but again doesn't help. I've also deleted all the shortcuts out of the Windows\Nethood directory.
Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried re-installing Windows ME?

I have Win ME installed on two machines and I get the same error as you on both.
A bug that Microsoft needs to fix maybe?

Vernon, Re-installing would really be a last resort for me. Since the problem can be worked around, but it is annoying.
Oski, my other 2 computers one with WinMe, the other with WinMe & Win Whistler don't have the problem at all. But it does definately sound like an MS problem.
Right now what I've done is made my own directory on the desktop and place links to the shares, but then when you goto backspace (to go back a directory) it doesn't work the same.

Flash420, because of the My Network Places error, I can't see anything at all using the My Network Places icon on the Desktop. But if the Web View is changed to "Use Windows classic folders" in the window Folder Options, then everything is visible in Network Places.
Another work-around is to use Explore under My Computer. You might still get the error but you can see everthing in My Network Places when using the Windows Explorer.

--- BREAKING NEWS ---
I found this fix on a Microsoft Windows ME Networking newsgroup.
"I had the same problem. Turned out that changing Tweakui to set the "My
Computer" icon first on the desktop causes this problem. Fix is to revert
back to "My Documents"..."
I tried it and it fixes the problem.

Oski, that bug doesn't make any sense whatsoever, but what do you expect from Microsoft? But it works. Thank you.
