    Program To Track Software Installation?

I remember seeing a discussion somewhere on these boards that described a program that would somehow log a list of files and their directories as they were copied during a software installation. I filed the post away in "Z:\Gray Matter" for future reference, however a system malfunction (read: aging mind) has rendered this drive useless. Two hours of searching and I'm still stumped.

Can someone post a link or something?

    Thanks very much,
    Jim

You didn't mention your operating system, so here is one provided by Microsoft for W2k.

    InCtrl5 : http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/stori...0,,77424,.html

That does exactly what you want.

And then there's Ashampoo Uninstaller: http://www.ashampoo.com/products/0003/

It also logs everything that's added, altered and removed during an install, but on top of that, it also allows you to reverse everything when you want to uninstall again.

I appreciate the responses you guys.

    oldhermit:
Sorry about that, I'm running Win 98se. I wonder if the Win 2K installation monitor would work with Win 98 as well? I'm going to try it anyway, I'll post back the results.

    Kleinkramer:
Your username came up about a hundred times during the search I mentioned in the first post! I was hoping you would see this post, as you obviously are quite knowledgeble in this area. It sounds like Ashampoo Uninstaller is exactly what I was looking for, I'm going to get it right now.

    Thanks again you guys,
    Jim
