where can i get software to adjust the monitor settings eg height-width-brightness etc

Hi hughie - options such as brightness, contrast etc are adjusted from the monitor itself. Have a look - you should have some controls somewhere that do the job. Other settings such as screen size, colour options, fonts can be adjusted from Control Panel. Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display > Settings.
