    OK, here is what you do.

    The problem is, is that win98 setup takes up more base memory than Win95.

    Make a win98 bootdisk on a current system, or boot from you r win98 cd. Start the system with cd-rom support. Copy the win98 directory to youyr c: Ie md win98. cd to that directory ie cd\win98 [enter]
    type copy e:\win98\*.*

    This will copy all the *.cab and setup files from m yuor win98 cd to your hd.

    Create a boot disk

    edit the config .sys to look like this and copy the following files to your stiffy himem.sys, emm386.exe

    edit config.sys

    device-=a:\himem.sys
    device=a:\emm386.exe
    dos=high,umb

    This will give you the most available base memory you can have.

    Reboot from floppy.

    acces c: and cd to win98 directory run

    setup /is

    If this doesnot work, then nothing will (install linux insstead ;-))

    Hope it helps.

    redhatuser,

    You wrote... "Make a win98 bootdisk on a current system, or boot from you r win98 cd. Start the system with cd-rom support. Copy the win98 directory to youyr c: Ie md win98. cd to that directory ie cd\win98 [enter]

    I did that already.

    You also wrote..."edit the config .sys to look like this and copy the following files to your stiffy himem.sys, emm386.exe"

    edit config.sys

    device-=a:\himem.sys

    dos=high,umb"

    I take it that you meant...device=a:\himem.sys

    Are you saying to copy himem.sys and emm386.exe from the bootup disk to the harddrive?
