Hi there!

I bought The X-Files game last week and I could here some cracking noises when music was playing. Apart from this, my soundcard always worked fine. I installed DirectX6 trying to solve the problem, and reinstalled updated drivers for my soundcard. This didn't help, but I got another problem in return! When I started up win95, all sounds of my desktop theme were distorted (stuttering)...I uninstalled the theme and the system sounds work again normally. But when using some applications (games, multimedia) sound still stutters, while other programs (like X-files game) do work allright. This apart from the cracking noises, which seems to be a problem which cannot be solved.

I hope you people can help me out! E.g. should I reinstall DirectX5, and should I re-install audio drivers BEFORE DX5, or AFTER? I don't know what's the best way to sort things out. Could the stuttering be a cause of DMA/IRQ-conflicts?

My system:
Pentium133, 32 MB EDO, Diamond Stealth II,
Avance Logic ALS100 soundcard, Conner 1.6 Gb
HDD.

Thanks in advance!
