    Blinking Mouse cursor

I just built a computer with some stuff I had left over and a friend gave me. (ECS P6SE-ML motherboard, 129 MHz PC-100, 8GHz Maxtor, sound & video built in) The PS-2 mouse cursor blinks constantly, but only when it's a pointer, not when it's a hand, or hourglass, or anything else. I've searched every reference to and setting for the mouse in control panel and anyplace else I can find a reference to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Help would be appreciated. (I've tried four different mice and they all do the same thing.)

Uninstall any software you have for the mouse and then remove the mouse from Device Manager. Reboot and see if XP recognizes the mouse and let it install a driver of it's own. If no driver available, install drivers, you may want to see if there is a driver update/fix/patch for the mouse.....

    cueball,

you should take time to read the post, elgercee indicated "searched every reference and settings for the mouse".

As for "how fast" remark, we can do without!

    Good luck elgercee, post results

Thanks CornerPocket for your response. I tried all of that and nothing worked. I'm getting ready to format "C" and reinstall. It shouldn't take me more than a day to get the software reinstalled (what the hell, I'm retired--what else to do?). I'm curious to see if this fixes it. I even looked in BIOS to see if there was some arcane setting I knew nothing about lurking there. Thanks again. (You too Cueball--you meant well!)
