How to log in Administrator Automatically??
Hi,
When I was installing Win 2k, it gave me an option of always logging in as "administrator" and I checked off the box. I liked that the login process after a restart happenned automatically.
However, I just uninstalled a stupid demo program and when I restarted, it now asks for the administrator password....I don't want to have to enter this everytime I restart...
How do I set it back so it automatically log in as administrator? I looked in all options under "administrative tools" but I can't find the place to set this option.
Thanks,
BJ

I had this happen once. Went to the following key in regedit and set it thusly:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon
Set the AutoAdminLogon to- 1

Is it wise to logon to automatically????
(just thinking about rights if u get hacked???)
But easiest way is to do from user & passwords from control panel (as stated previously) although I would seriously advise to set it up having a power user account login automatically. (power users have almost the same rights)
By the way it is as simple as unchecking the box [users must enter a password ...] (easier than a reg key????)

Hello,
I agree with above suggestions.
I would really not recommend you to logon as Admin more often than you need to. Logon as a Power User. It gives you most rights, and if you need more, just type in your credentials for admin at the prompt (in cases of installs). Or you can unckeck y=the box "Users must enter password..."
