question?????
what causes programs to not respond? is there something i can do to fix this problem? i have 84% of my system resources free and 448mb of ram so i don't think i am overloaded + i have 6530mb of harddrive space out of 12397mb. i only have norton running on startup. please help this madness. thanks

software confilct, missing .dll .vxd files
lots of reasons for software to lockup & not respond, not like there is one reason for it, if that were true computers would be much easyer to fix...

What programs? do you get error messages? Do you just double click on the prog's icon and nothing happens or do they just freeze up while they're running? When one doesn't respond can you use other programs or do you have to reboot because everything is frozen?
VirtualDr email notices are not working.
Check back regularly for responses.

i run sfc and it comes back clean. is there any other program i can run to check better?

when i run a program it freezes up but i can still get to the start to restart because i cannot close the file window. but when i restart everything just freezes

Try disabling Norton and see if there's a difference.
