I need files that were accidently deleted
I did not recognize a running process on my computer, so I went and deleted it. It apparently was a needed file because now my windows will not boot up. The files are rsvp.exe and rpcss.exe. I do not have a win ME install disk, just a restore disk and I will not resort to using it. I have tried to replace the files with ones people have given me, but they were too new of versions. I believe the version number on most of them was 3328 and another was 2900. If you have previous versions please e-mail them to wesleyswinmefiles@yahoo.com or wesleyswinmefiles@hotmail.com. Thank you very much.

Hi weasuL:
How about using a prior restore date from a command prompt?

I am able to boot into a command prompt and that's all, nothing more. I was thinking about putting pkzip on a floppy disk and extracting my .cab files until i find the two files, but i'm not sure if they'll be in the .cab files. Do you think they would be?

Hi weasuL:
Please don't be angry with me if I sound redundant here? HOW are you booting to a command prompt? With a boot disk?

The two files you mention are found in Win_17.cab. I have ZipMagic -- maybe any zip program will read the cab files -- and just went down the list looking in the cab files. C:\windows\options\cabs\win_17.cab My asumption would be that if the zip program would "open" and "read" the cab file, it would also extract the file needed. Hope this helps.

Yes, with a boot disk, I apologize for not being clear. But, anywho, thank you Jerry I will look tomorrow night.
