Volume very low on sound recorder

When trying to use the default sound recorder in Windows the playback volume is very very low. I have looked at all of the standard fixes in the control panel under "sounds and media" and on the task bar. All of the volume slide bars are set at a normal levels and none of the mute boxes have been checked.

    What's next?

You may have to adjust the volume levels beyond nomimal during playback to achive a proper balance and playback volume. i.e. increasing mic volume to record. Assure that the mic is positioned properly and cables fully seated in the jacks. Also, depending on the mic and the soundcard, the mic may not have enough impedance (i.e. cheap mic)
Might consult your soundcard documentation, too.

    hope it helps mach.
