    Where did it come from?

    What ho one and all,

My elderly neighbour does all his e-mail via MSN and his account has been hacked. I received an e-mail from him yesterday, one way or another, asking me to buy a £100 Amazon gift card on his behalf, because his card was being rejected.

I was going to assist but called him and he told me about the hack,

However, I replied and did receive a response. When I go into the e-mail properties, there is all the detail that I don't understand, but apart from my neighbours e-mail address, is it possible to find the 'real' e-mail address?

    Thanks and toodle pip

You probably cannot find the sender's email address, since there probably isn't one, or they are using a hijacked computer and/or hijacked email address. However, you can find the IP address of the originating sender, and then check that to see if it could actually be the real IP address of the person it claims to be from. This same thing happened to me a couple of months ago except it was from a gmail acc't of a workmate of mine. I initially replied too wondering what was going on because his request was out of character (and had some typos) and he emailed back a while later about the hack from another email acc't.

Not a lot you can do though, really. You just always have to be very vigilant and wary about any emails asking for money, favors or wanting you to download something or click on a link.
    Don't believe everything you think.

VirtualDr email notices are not working.
    Check back regularly for responses.
