    No power

I had to transport my machine over corrugated dirt roads and I thought the front seat would be adequate shock protection but now it won't power on.

    mobo is Asus Z390-E, with 2 x 16 RAM, i9-9900k.

Up in the left corner there's a cover that keeps changing color, so i know there's power there but the fans don't come on and there's nothing to the front panel switch or LED's.

I've checked every connection and I can't find the problem. Any suggestions?

    Thanks - rev

No way to know for sure until you reseat everything. I'd start by double checking all the cables, and then reseating the ram and video card.

I know the RAM is sensitive but wouldn't the machine fire up first and then give me an error?

Probably, but it's worth a try at this point. There is no way to know for sure, so you gotta start somewhere. Don't assume anything.

I took out the video card and connected to the onboard graphics, then
    re-seated the RAM, then
    changed the CMOS battery
I also tried shorting the switch pins - dead as a door nail.

Jiggling in the front seat might dislodge a connection but I can't see it damaging the board.

Any strong vibration could have damaged something.

You said you checked every connection, but does that you mean that you unplugged and replugged them in? Especially the ATX12v (top left) and the 24-pin main power.

I hope nothing broke in the power supply, but you could try swapping it. Make sure it's set to 115v if there's a 115/230v switch.

When substituting the power supply, I only need to use the two main power connectors, right?

I'll try that and a complete rebuild.

Ya, you just need the ATX12 and main power. Hopefully that'll do it.

You could try removing the motherboard from the case and rebuilding on a non-conductive surface as a test.

It runs and stays up! But 'no signal' to monitor. That could be because I pulled the card and went with the onboard graphics.

What could break from vibration in a power supply?

If that's not it, then the original connections might work again.

It could have been anything. I have no idea how much shock the computer took. I'm just trying to eliminate the possible issues one by one.

You nailed that one for sure. I got the monitor working and an optical drive with boot media recognized.

So I'm finally back to where I was a month ago "No signed device drivers were found. Make sure boot media contains the drivers and retry"

What are these drivers and where do I get them?

What boot disk are you running? What OS?

Win 7. I'm supposed to integrate the drivers into the installation media so that they're available during installation but first I have to find them.

You know that motherboard doesn't officially support Win7, right?

That just means they don't want to support it. It's being done all the time, which is why I took it to my local store and shook the crap out of a brand new power supply. The dude who does it all day was on vacation otherwise I'd be up and running by now.

There are various tools that automate the integration but I've either been doing something wrong or integrating the wrong drivers.
