Display doesn't fit screen

On win 7 I used the NVIDIA control panel which has a display resizer, on win 10 I'm using the onboard graphics (Rog Strix Z390-E) here are the instructions that are all over the web:

1. Click the "Start" button and click "Control Panel" to open the Control Panel.
2. Click "Adjust Screen Resolution" in the Appearance and Personalization section to open the Screen Resolution window.
3. Click "Resolution" to open a slider control.
4. Drag the slider's marker upward to select your maximum resolution.

Only my win 10 doesn't have Adjust Screen Resolution under Appearance and Personalization so I can't open any slider. How is it fixed?

Not sure where you are getting those instructions, but on my Win10, you need to right-click on the Desktop and then click Display Settings. You can change the Display resolution there.

What happens if you right-click on a blank area of the Desktop and select Display Settings from the popup menu?

I get Display Settings but there is no option to Change Resolution

There should be a Scale and Layout section, and below that selection boxes for:

Change the size of text, apps, and other items

Resolution

Orientation


If you are not seeing any of these, check Device Manager to see what Display Adapter settings Windows thinks you have.

Resolution is there but only fixed increments, no slider.

I don't think so because I figured they'd be provided. I'll try an update.

I posted a link to the drivers in post #2. Don't assume drivers will be installed automatically.

No slider on my settings either. You would probably need drivers that included one for that.

However, there is probably only one resolution setting that will provide the best display on your monitor, so as long as that setting is available, you should be OK using it.

You mean just plod through every fixed increment and take the best? I thought of that too but if there's a squilimeter of unused screen I'm going to be miserable

I don't expect a new installation to do everything I want but I do expect a method, a utility, a third party app...

I tried Sizer but it's only for 32 bit machines. I tried AutoSize but it only sizes particular windows, not the whole display.

1360 x 786 is the best fit but I still can't see the entire icon in the taskbar. it's better than before and it will do for now but I'll be back!

What is the make and model of the monitor or monitors that you are using on this system?
