    Power supply question

I have a power supply I suspect is not working. I also have a bucket of power supplies I know are working.

Do I have to match all the specs exactly?

    Specs on the suspect one are 100-240v 50-60 htz 1.0A 12v 2000mA

    Thanks - rev

The specs do not have to match exactly. You need one that can handle your input voltage and will put out enough power for the system you are putting it in. You would probably want at least 400-450 watts. DO NOT use a Bestec power supply under any circumstances.

Bestec is a manufacturer. Do you mean laptop AC adapters? Power supplies usually refers to desktop computers, but you posted in Laptops.

Yes, laptop AC adapter. Apologies for the wrong terminology.

For a laptop adapter, you want the output voltage to match and the output amps to be at least what you had before.
