Brother HL-2300D failure
I've got a Brother HL-2300D laser printer that always worked perfectly under Windows 7 for me, but I just got a new Windows 10 Home installed on a new PC, downloaded the Windows 10 software from the Brother website. It appeared to install perfectly, and the status monitor and printer stuff is seen and available, but I can't get it to print no matter what I do. The status monitor always says "SLEEP", and I can't seem to get it to wake up. What am I failing to understand?

the "updates" are not MY problem, as other printers work on the same USB cable in the same USB slot on the PC... still not sure what's going on...

It may still be the "updates", if they have affected the Brother drivers. You could try installing the Generic Text Only printer driver and connect it to the Brother printer to see if you can print a test page to the Brother using that driver. Also, if you have another computer available, see if you can install the Brother drivers on it and print to the Brother printer. If you get the same results on a different computer, there may be an issue with the Brother printer.
