Bad/No audio when doing live calls

    Hey experts!

I have this laptop that audio works fine if I'm listening to music or watching movies. Cool.

But when I'm doing live online calls or webinars, sounds always turns to crap especially when I'm doing zoom.

Another example is when I'm doing facebook calls or video calls, the other person can't hear me but I can hear the other side.

Please advise on how I can solve this.

What is the make/model of the laptop? What OS? Did you update the audio drivers?

What browser are you using? Did you try other browsers?

Specs of my laptop is here on the link: https://bit.ly/2LWgrx1

    Audio driver is also updated.

I use chrome for facebook. I don't try other browsers because they're slow.

    Zoom has its own app.

What else do we need to check?

You should at least try another browser, even Edge or IE. Don't just assume it's not the browser.

I can't tell the exact model from your screenshot, but I see Toshiba mentioned. Did you actually check the manufacturer's website for updated drivers? Don't rely on Device Manager to check for updates.

I don't use Zoom, but did you check for any updates?

    Thank you Midknyte!

Ok. I downloaded the latest audio driver from toshiba for satelite L510. Though it's latest on their site, the previous one I had was more updated.

Anyway, I tested it and the other party hears me already. On facebook using chrome (I still didn't use others browser. Stubborn me.) and made a call with zoom. Works fine now.

But my one only problem now is even I'm using my 3.5 jack headset or bluetooth headset, audio input is coming from my laptops mic.

It doesn't use my headset's mic.

I checked the sound settings and can't detect my 3.5 jack headset.

But I can hear the other party on my headset. It's just the mic.

    Any thoughts?

Did you check the "Recording Devices" in the Sound settings? Make sure that the headset mic is enabled and set to default. Or you could try disabling the onboard mic.

Sorry, but I don't have a Win10 box in front of me right now, but there should be similar settings.

Checked it and it really doesn't detect it.

But what I did was I use now a Plantronics USB headset. Solved all the headaches.

Thanks for hopping in Midknyte. Really appreciate all your advice. Have an absolute wonderful day ahead!
