Skype issue
I was using an older version of skype on my laptop, but I don't know which version that I had. I just upgraded to the current version and somehow I don't have any of my contacts or conversation logs that I had in my previous version program of skype. Is there a way I can get this info back or would this info be in my skype if I install a previous version of skype?

Hi, JDC2000. I apparently had 2 skype listings on my laptop. One probably being old version and one the new version. I was trying to first reinstall skype. I used Revo uninstaller and it uninstalled skype. Skype is still appearing on my laptop ( newer version). I click on it and it automatically logged me into skype. I don't see any other skype listings in revo uninstaller. Why didn't it remove all of skype and how is this still on my computer?

I found skype program in apps and features, since I didn't see any skype listing in revo uninstaller. Should I click uninstall to remove this version before installing previous or classic version of skype?

I clicked on advanced options and it says version 14.44.40.1000 and under that it says app 0 bytes, data 0 bytes, and total usage 0 bytes.

That looks like the UWP version. You can probably uninstall that and re-install the Desktop version.

JDC2000, I installed the classic version and logged into skype. I now see all my contacts and conversation logs that I had previously. I really appreciate your help. Thanks so much.

I am sorta having the same issue as last time. The only difference this time is that I didn't click upgrade to upgrade to the current version of skype. Every time I click on skype to log in, there is a prompt asking me to upgrade. The 2 listings in apps that are showing is the classic version and newest version. I did uninstall the newest version (14.53.85.0) from apps. Then I install classic version but, it still asks me to upgrade without logging into skype. Do I need to uninstall all versions and folders of skype from my laptop and then reinstall classic version?

Can you not cancel the "upgrade" prompt? Do you still have the downloaded installer for the desktop version of Skype? If yes, you could try uninstalling all Skype software and removing all traces from the file system and registry and then re-installing. Or, you could try a System Restore to a date when it still worked.

Hi, JDC2000. When I cancel the prompt, it does not allow me to go further and I can not continue to log into skype. Yes, I still have skype version 7.40.0.104 on my laptop. I just want to make sure that I won't loose any of my skype contacts or conversation logs that I had in my skype program if I uninstall all skype software on my device?
