Resolved [RESOLVED] Cannot Find Drivers For "Other Devices"

    Dell Optiplex 780
    service pack 3
    4 GB memory
Dual core processor 64 bit ready

After 4 years the computer crashed. I formatted the hard drive and reinstalled XP. I went to Dells site and tried downloading drivers for the computer and to Intel's site. All was installed except for
    "Other Devices". These are
"audio device on high definition audio bus"
    "OTG102"
    "OTG102"
    "PCI Serial Port"
    "Video Controller"
    "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)"

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

When you "Tried" at Dell's site were you successful?

Did you install the mobo and all other related drivers from Dell's website?

In theory you'd want to do the mobo drivers first.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Partly successful. Everything but "other devices". I was able to find drivers for "pci serial port" and "audio device on high definition audio bus" by going into "properties" and getting the info using the "details" tab. But this did not work for the other four. What I did was go to Google>dell optiplex drivers>support for optiplex 780> and just started downloading and running any file that sounded like what I needed. I also used keywords for a search. I could, if I wanted to, use the pay for program as it listed the drivers that were missing. All I did was unplug three wires so I could set my printer where I wanted it to be and plugged the three wires back in. This is my music making computer and I have no sound. Reinstalled all software. Says it's working. But no sound. I don't know what those four devices, programs, or what ever they are. Or if I need them.

When at Dell's site, did you try letting Dell tell you which drivers you needed for XP?

Works for me every time on any Dell I'm working on .

Specifically which driver sets did you install?

I'm guessing these would be your audio drivers:
    https://www.dell.com/support/home/us...ex-780/drivers
Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated HD Audio, v.5.10.1.7270, A12

Did you set Operating System to XP or not? The audio drivers are at the top of the list.

That was the very first one I ran. Yes it was set to XP.
Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated HD Audio, v.5.10.1.7270, A12.

To let Dell tell me what drivers to use do I go here?
"Can’t find the driver you are looking for?"

I'm not sure. Are these driver sets?

    Intel AMT HECI chipset driver
Intel chipset software installation utility v.9.1.1.1015,AO1

    If so I ran them.

When I say "driver sets", I mean all driver .exes you installed. Some install multiple drivers or additional software.

If the audio isn't working, I would delete the audio devices in Device Manager and allow XP to redetect it.

I deleted "Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated HD Audio, v.5.10.1.7270, A12" and reinstalled it. It said it was working. There was no sound. I turned off the computer and restarted it. No sound. I turned the computer off and restarted it and walla, sound! That was last night. Today I turned the computer on. No sound. I turned it off and restarted it. There was sound. I don't know why. All I did was reinstall that driver. Why it doesn't start sound on the first startup I don't know. So I do have sound and can compose music with my two programs.

    Thanks!

Just a note. It still takes two restarts to get sound.

When you restart and have NO sound, check Services to see if your Audio service(s) are started. If not, you could try setting them to Delayed Start to see if that helps.
