Windows 10 builds 1803 and 1809 fail to install

I have an ASUS N-Series laptop with an Intel i7-4710HQ, 16GB RAM and a Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB. It runs on Windows 10 Home and has Windows version 1709 and OS Build 16299.1087. The Windows 1803 update never installed and I was low on HD space. I installed the new Samsung 1TB SSD with no problems but the Widows updates still won’t install.

In the past all Windows updates have installed with no problem. The Windows 1803 and 1809 updates always fail to install. MS is trying to download Feature update to Windows 10, version 1803 amd64 2019-04 (8). I don’t have an AMD processor which gives me one clue.

Last failed install attempt on ‎5/‎3/‎2019 - 0xc1900101 is the error code I’ve been Googling. Also, when I check for updates Windows starts and auto update that I can’t stop. I’ll try to download the correct MS build file from the MS download site. Also, I’ve deleted the Windows software distribution files and ran the trouble shooter in the past with no update success.

I found a few You Tube tutorials where I’ll have to enter some commands which are my next attempts.

Any suggestions or links to forum discussions on this topic would be helpful.

    Thanks! Mike

Did you try downloading the 1809 iso and installing from a flash drive?

AMD64 just means a 64-bit CPU, not necessarily an actual AMD CPU.
