    "Everything" search program

I picked up this program from a tip here some time ago, but I can't figure out how to use it. I've read the basic tutorial, but the method eludes me
    https://www.voidtools.com/support/everything/

Suppose I want to find the system file host, whose location I know. I typed "host" into the box, in Advanced Search I told it I wanted to search C:\Windows. The search box changed to "host nowholeword:C:\Windows\." I tried clicking the Enter key, but the results box is empty.

NVM. I had C:\ on the exclusion list

So another Q. Do you have to run the program in the background so it will index new files?

By default, Everything will look for the keyword on the entire system, including the C:\ drive.

If you want to specify a folder, type in the path, then a space, and then the keyword
    C:\Windows\ host
    OR vice versa
    host C:\Windows\

You can also do an Advanced search and specify the folder path.
Go to Search > Advanced Search...
Specify the folder in the "Located in:" field

You can read more about search syntax here:

No. Everything updates its database when you run it.

    http://www.voidtools.com/faq/#Does__...system_changes
Does "Everything" miss changes made to the file system if it is not running?

No, "Everything" can be closed and restarted without missing changes made to the file system (even across system restarts).

"Everything" updates the database when it is started.
