    Foxy sent me(?)

    Dear all,

First off, I thought I made a thread but I can't find it anymore? So apologies if I duplicated it.

Second, I wanted to get rid of the username on my logon screen. I am the Administrator/Owner of the computer and wanted to get rid of the username "Administrator" itself.
So far I've managed to get rid of:
    - Easy of access button
    - Power Button
    - Switch Button
    - Profile picture
    - Windows 7 logo (bottom mid)
    - Arrow next to password box
    - Bypass 256kb background limit

I only need to get rid of the username, I know this is possible because I've seen threads where they managed to do it but they are years old so I don't know how they did it.

    Hi, I'm LoveMyFoxy at Mozillazine.

You want to eliminate the logon screen entirely? How are you planning to log off without the Power Button? By "background," do you mean the wallpaper of the desktop?

    Try any of these:

No... I want to keep the logon screen... I just want to customize the logon screen by editing athui.dll
Don't worry about the power button, it's already gone from the logon screen. Once I logged in there is a power button in the start menu. But I'm talking about removing the username on the logon screen. Look the picture. By background I mean the wallpaper on the logon screen. Not desktop.

No... I want to keep the logon screen... I just want to customize it by editing athui.dll this way I removed all unnecessary buttons from the logon screen. I now just want to get rid of the username, Administrator, as shown in the picture. By background, I mean the wallpaper of the logon screen. This thread has nothing to do with my desktop. Just the logon screen.

Removing the power / shutdown button is probably not the best idea. Without it you have to log in to shut down. Of course, if you set it to automatically log in without requiring a password, that should fix that issue and the issue of the name appearing at the login screen, since you will be automatically logged in.

I don't thing editing the athui.dll to eliminate the user name would work, and, even if it did, it would not be a good idea since you would not know what user account you were trying to log in to if you disabled the auto-login.

I want a logon screen. I don't want to automatically login. Editing the athui.dll is fine, I made a backup if anything. But I guess nobody can help me here either

We've been having login problems here for about a week, or you might have had more replies.

So you want to log in using a user name and password, but you don't want the user name shown?

If so, how would know which user name you should supply the password for? Also, if you need to enable the built-in Administrator account at some point to use that, or use a different user name, you would not know which user name the password is being asked for. You may not even be able to switch users easily if you have removed items from the login screen.

If you only have ONE Admin user set up (no other users), you might be OK, although I still do not see the purpose in removing the user name. It won't really provide any additional security.

If you can find the appropriate resource using the method at the link below, you might be able to remove the user name. That assumes that the user name is in the resources and not hard-coded into authui.dll.
