Resolved [RESOLVED] Lenovo 110s need to reinstall Windows 10

Can I do this with a flash drive?

I'm buying my nephew's laptop, it has no DVD drive but has three USB ports, two USB 2 and one USB 3. It has his name on it, I want to erase that and put my daughter's name in so I can give it to her for Christmas. Can I put the Windows 10 upgrade I have already downloaded on a flash drive and install that to this computer?

I'm assuming i can but you know what they say about assuming things, eh.

There is supposed to be a way to make a "recovery" drive on a flash drive. It depends on the manufacturer, but you'd probably need at least a 16GB drive. I'd use the recovery drive if possible, since that would also install all the drivers and other factory software.

I tried to use the recovery drive and it gets so far and says it failed. Twice I've done this and twice it failed. Btw, at the time I have tried this, it comes up and says something about Windows 7, though this is supposed to be a brand new laptop, I bought from Amazon last year, I don't understand why it's referencing to another OS.

And it shows no recover disk in the list of harddrives/flash drives.

My flash drives are all 32GB

Do you mean the recovery partition or did you make a recovery usb flash drive?

Otherwise, you could create a bootable Win10 flash drive.

Recovery partition is missing. I didn't make a flash drive recovery disk before I added his name to this laptop.

I'll do the other you listed. I'm still trying to get settled back in after moving back from Jacksonville. My youngest brother took my room so I ended up with a room that has bad carpet on the floor. It has mold under it, and it's filthy.

My oldest brother has promised to hang my TV but only after I bought his computer which as you know I did last week........TV still sitting in the floor. LOL

OK I got the recovery USB drive done. Looked at the link to see how to do it and it will allow me to do a full wipe and reload to factory settings. I just have to find time to do that. Thanks Midknyte for your help.

Cool. I'm glad you got the recovery drive created. At least you won't have to go hunting for drivers.
