One shows the Properties of C:\ (right click C and choose Properties) and reports the used amount on the disk to be 184 gig.
The other shows the entire contents of C:\ (select entire contents under C, choose Properties) to be 18 gig. This is what I believe to be correct because it's a fresh installation, Windows, Office and a few utils are all I've installed so there's no way it can be 184 gig. Folder Size shows the same discrepancy. How can this be?
I've only done one System Restore so far because I wanted to wait until I have the machine complete and peachy.
BTW this was an fresh install alongside an old one - so the old one got renamed to windows.old. That accounts for the 187 gig used, it's a remnant of something previous but why can't I see what it is by any method?
That was it dude! You nailed it. I disabled SR and it looks as though I'm getting that space back. The hour glass hasn't finished hour glassing yet so I'll post back.
A cool addition to a deg*** program would be the ability to click on a block in the display and have a tool tip show you what that filename is.

I thought you meant a clean install. I didn't see a Windows.old folder in your screenshot either. It would have been helpful to know you had the old Windows. That's more like a repair install or an in-place upgrade.
>I thought you meant a clean install.
I should have mentioned that, sorry, wrong terminology. It also looks as if I have to eat crow and apologize on that screen res issue. I installed the NVIDIA driver, used the util to stretch the screen to fit and lo and behold, it changed my resolution. Groveling is all I'm up to right now, so let's just close that one and not go there - put it down to ignorance. Oh and it warm booted!
I really wish there was a generic driver with that feature because I don't do gaming and the NVIDIA seems so top heavy and bloated that I won't be surprised if I have issues in the future.
