Failed update KB 4088776, Error 0x800700bc2

Win 10 Home on a Lenovo Laptop G770. The other updates install, but this one has always failed. One message a month or so ago I thought said something about Microsoft was working on a solution. I think it has been over month with this failure to install. How do I know if this is something I need to attend to or just forget it? Today the Windows Defender virus definations installed and a Adobe Flash update installed, but this one failed again. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Users with Windows 10 Version 1709 Enterprise that have installed the January 2018 Delta package may encounter failure issues when installing the February and March 2018 updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog. Specifically, the Windows 10, version 1709 February Delta Update may silently fail.

Microsoft recommends that users uninstall the Windows 10 version 1709 January KB4056892 Delta Update package and install the March 2018 full latest cumulative update, KB4088776.

VirtualDr email notices are not working.

Thanks for your reply. I had to completely reinstall Windows in February and I have 81 updates shown as installed, beginning Feb 17. The January KB4056892 is not included in the installed updates. Updates shsows (KB4088776) is ready for installation, but restarting fails to install.

Do you have the KB4056892 update installed? If yes, try uninstalling it and then installing the KB4088776 update.

That is not on the list. The 6 on the Windows list are KB, of course on all, 4087256,4054022,4054517,4058043,4074588. All 6 of these are dated 02/17/2018. The others are MS Enterprise Office 2007, two Visual C, two or three MS compatibility updates through various dates after Feb. 17. Thanks so much for your time.

Would it be worth a try to uninstall all the updates I have, 6 I think it is for Windows, plus some compatability updates for Office and Enterprise Office, then with these out of the way, try to install the one which will not complete the update process?

That might work, but I wouldn't bet on it. The usual way to fix updated issues these days is to either wait until the latest update installs, or to reinstall Windows.

Well, no updates for Windows have been made since Feb 17, I think it is. Several other updates, 81 all together, have been made for Office and Enterprise Office. An Adobe flash update states it is awaiting a restart to complete, and this is showing immediately after I just restarted the computer, so that is not going to complete. I think there is a message that pops up some place in this process that states MS is aware of this issue and is working on a solution. But thanks for your time in giving me these suggestions. that helps.

Try going to the link for the standalone update package for this update:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...date-kb4088875

Scroll down to How To Get This Update to find the link. Download and see if it will install.

I used the link and everything I found was for Windows 7 or Windows Server. I did not try any of them. I could reinstall Windows leaving all programs and non-system files as they are, if that is the type reinstall you mentioned as a possible fix.

Try this link instead (assuming that your build number matches up):
