    CCleaner

Ever time when I click "analyze" and run ccleaner, a popup message says "chrome needs to be closed to clean internet cache." When I click yes, another popup says "the application is taking a long time to close...would I like to force it to close?" I attached screenshots of the messages. Why do these messages appear every time I run ccleaner when I don't have chrome open?

Even when closed, part of Chrome stays in memory so it can load faster. To close it all the way, press [Winkey][R], type in:

    taskkill /f /im chrome.exe

    and press [Enter].

It sounds like you installed Chrome extensions that run in the background. Use SpywareDr's method or open Task Manager and kill the chrome.exe processes.

SpyrwareDr, thanks for that info to close chrome manually.

Midknyte, thanks for an alternative to close it. I appreciate it.

This was happening to my dormroom roomate and I passed your advice along to him and it worked -- thanks, all!

You can also disable those Chrome processes from within Chrome's own settings..

Click on the Chrome menu (or press Alt+E)
    Select Settings
Click on the link titled ‘Show advanced settings‘
Under the section headed ‘System‘ untick the box next to
“Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed”

I've done that and notice little to no slowness in Chrome loading or functioning.

VirtualDr email notices are not working.
    Check back regularly for responses.
