PC Shopping First Time In 8 Years

So I wanted to get some reviews for a new PC which could meet my needs. It’s not that I’ve been putting off a new PC to save money, I just can’t stand giving up Windows 7!!!

Budget wise I’m looking around $1,000 but I could got up to $2,000 if I find something which REALLY suites my needs.

What will it be used for?

I want something that can handle video and photo editing well. Since the new Photoshop is only online based I guess I need something that can handle these programs online well.

Also I want to be able to burn discs. I presume an external Blu Ray burner should do.

Hard drive space does not matter so much since I’ll be saving most things on external drives.

Or should I embrace the horror of Mac? If it better meets my needs so be it.

Oh yeah, VGA isn't a total must but I'd really prefer it since I have an old LG which has fantastic picture if it's direct VGA.

That HP is probably OK, but you are not getting a lot for your money with it.

If I were buying an off-the-shelf PC, I would probably go with a Dell. You can customize those to meet your needs and budget.

Thanks. I'm still considering custom options.

This one has now moved to first place.

That is a nice one and competitively priced.

    Another possibility:

I ended up going with the ibuypower one. It's working well, I'm alright with Windows 10.

Direct VGA was a major plus! There was conflicting info online if it had VGA or not.

It also has the non USB green and purple mouse and keyboard inputs so I can still use my old great keyboard without having to buy a new one.

The only negatives I can say about the PC is it's lack of USB ports. Only four ports? Even my old PC had six ports. The new disc drive uses two ports alone. I had to get an attachment for more ports.

My big question now is what to do about the giant quarter sized holes in the top of the PC? They're so big things can easily fall in there! If I cover them up will it harm the airflow?

Quarter sized holes? The pictures I looked at in your link showed a mesh panel on the top of the case. Post a picture of what you actually have.

Pretty sure that's for water cooling.

If Midknyte is correct and those holes are for water cooling, see if the PC came with any hole plugs for use where water cooling is not implemented. If not, you may have to buy some. A decent local hardware store should have them, or they can be obtained in various styles and sizes from online retailers.

Alright, I took another look at it they're dime sized holes but they're covered by a thing grate so only something as small as a sewing needle could fall through.

By "water cooling" what are you referring to? Obviously the PC should not have any water in it so I presume it's a slang term.

    Water cooling your computer:

That grill is what I saw in the image for your computer from the Best Buy link. Just don't store your sewing supplies or your stapler on top of the PC and you should be OK.
