Audio drivers are not there on bootup

I'm getting 'no drivers installed' when I know they're there. I've done a few reboots, which has fixed the issue in the past but it's not working this time.

The drivers are for the MOTU Traveler audio interface.

What's causing the system not to see the drivers.

Does this device connect via firewire and that maybe the driver issue is related more to that than the audio device?

Yes it does use firewire and you might be right but what do I do now?

I've got a support ticket in with MOTU but they take a couple of days.

Look in Device Manager for the FireWire port and see if there are any errors. Can also attempt to re-install it's drivers.

Did all that to no avail but I just found a policy saying, 'Prevent drivers from being installed unless they match a group or type' - something like that. Anything preventing an installation might be the cause so I'm about to try it with that turned off.

Changing that policy allowed me to install the drivers but they didn't show up in Device Manager. Then I plugged in the interface, drivers were installed and are working. It remains to be seen whether they will disappear on bootup.
