Problem with Edge or my computer

Is anyoe else having a problem with Microsoft Edge or is it my computer?

It is as slow as molasses in January and if I leave a page or 2 pulled up it freezes up and I cannot delete a page or even search for anything. Now I can type in what I want to search for but then it does nothing. Also Cortana is not working either.

I don't believe it is my computer because I can use Mozilla or Google Chrome with no issue.

Cam you help me please and also tell me how to how to fix Cortana. Up front, it is not the microphone. I can neither get her to search by typing for get her to do anything by voice.

I have Windows 10 laptop. I have used my malware and used AV to scan my computer and it comes up clean

In Win 10, I refuse to use Edge or IE.
Just me, but when I BETA tested Win 10 I found Edge to be junk in my book.

And it does not take much , about 500 MB of temp files , to start slowing down the browsers in Win 10. So I use my favorite clean up tool.
    TFC (Temp File Cleaner)

The most I know of that it has cleaned off of a hdd so far was 123 GB. Talk about speeding up a computer afterward.

You should not have to set up an account, the green Download button should be what you want.

Are you referring to the Vivaldi web browser?

    https://vivaldi.com/?lang=en_US

I use it. It is based on the same engine as Google Chrome, but it is much more configurable.

OMG, did the scan and did exactly what you told me too. WOW, now do I ever have a problem. My computer did NOT get faster in fact now it is more than twice as slow. I just timed loading this page and it took almost 55 seconds. It is this way now with ALL sites I have tried to get to. It is slower by double as the slowest dial up I use to have.

I "think" but am not sure that this may have started with an update as that is also when Cortana stopped working and to type to search there took forever to show what I typed in.

What on earth?? Help!! If possible leave me logged in as I thought I was never going to get loaded to login here just now.

And, every page wants me to RECOVER website.

AND, what is the BEST free browser or what do you use or recommend?

    That doesn't sound good.

Try downloading and installing the Vivaldi browser, then see what happens when you try to access this site.

    Start > settings > system
Scroll down to Windows Specifications and post what you find.

The Fall Builder Update slowed this laptop down to.

Vivaldi brings up a list of places and asks what program do I want to open it in. I don't know???? I have no idea.

    TRAIN: Will do.
