    Using a large (TV?) screen

I've been thinking about using a larger screen and possibly two of them but I'm concerned about getting the wrong thing. The application is Sonar (digital audio) and the idea is to show a lot more tracks with great resolution.

Does anyone know what specs I should be looking for?

    Thanks - rev

As long as your computer has an HDMI port, you should be able to use most HDTVs as a monitor. Note that HDMI would also output the audio to the TV, unless you specifically chose not to.

What do you mean by "great resolution"? Like 4K? Note that HiDPI (high DPI) monitors may have issues with older apps.

Post the make/model of the computer. Also the OS (Ex. Win10 x64)

I mean I'd like it to look as good as it did on the computer monitor. The laptop I'm writing this on is set to 1366 x 768 I'd be happy if looked that good but showed me more real estate.

Well exactly. How old is old and what would the issues be?

Machine: Asus P6T mobo, 16 RAM, 3.33 Intel i975 quad core chip.

Then a standard HDTV 1080p would be fine. Resolution and size are two different things.

"Old" would be anything that is not HiDPI aware. You'd have to look up the product versions. If you're not getting a 4K tv, then it's a moot point.

You didn't say the OS. Win10 supports HiDPI better, but that's moot if you're not getting 4K.

What do I do with that information to discover its HiDPI awareness? Sonar 8.5.33 is old.

I'll see what others are doing on the Sonar forums.

    Thanks!

Then it probably doesn't support it. It would have to explicitly say that.

    Just for an example: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb...a-display.html

Again, if you're not getting a 4K TV, then it's not a concern.
