    UEFI bios

What are your thoughts on the above?

I have a motherboard I'm thinking of buying but have never heard this term before. Looking at photos of it on "how to geek" I'm still not sure it's a good idea.

Anyone of you have this on a motherboard?

Need answers ASAP because I'm ordering parts tomorrow.

Most, if not all, new motherboards will come with UEFI now. It started to be more common when Windows 8 came out.

Well, I ran into a snag. The motherboard I was looking at only has support for FX x6, and the cpu I'm buying is x8.
Thanks for the info though, it helps.

I'll keep looking for a motherboard that allows my new cpu to work with it.

I went to ASrock's website and checked their cpu support list, for that motherboard. There are several cpus that are supported but the numbers are different from newegg's numbers.

For the FX8350 at ASrock is: FD8350FRW8KHK

    At newegg: FD8350FRHK

Do you think they are the same processor but without the extra letters added at newegg?

Looks like same CPU, different packaging.

Parts ordered but changed mobo to Gigabyte again. Asrock was ok but just didn't have the price I needed nor the features I was looking at for the new computer. I bought the AMD FX8350 with Wraith cooler as it was cheaper than the one with the standard cooler.

I have a feeling the psu was part of the problems I had before. It wasn't producing the amount of power on certain connections like it was supposed to do/ although, it could have been dying and I didn't realize it. Anyway, new one on the way, Antec 650W, should be enough plus to power this new computer.
