    Help with Nook Ereader

My friend gave me a nook because he got a new lighted one. It has a lot of books in it but I am stymied as to how to download books from Barnes and Noble. I downloaded the Calibre program and installed it, opened an account with B&N ...now what?
Can you give me step by step how to download a book to the nook? Need simple instructions.
    Thanks so much.

Which OS does the Nook have?
Support on Nook's website has a Chat feature, you might want to use that.

    Thanks, Photolady,
I finally got a couple of books downloaded and that part is working ok now. Can't figure out how to save them
in the Calibre Library yet. That is supposed to be a back up for all the books in the Nook. To me it seems a bit
complicated just to add a book. I will try the chat feature you mentioned.

I don't think Calibre will work with ebooks that are still encrypted with Digital Rights Management (DRM) (and B&N ebooks are DRM encrypted.) Calibre works GREAT with unencrypted ebooks.

A personal opinion... If it were my money, I would not spend much time or money on any of Barnes and Noble's Nook or Nook ebooks. Their support of the tablet readers has been very poor. I moved to Amazon a few years ago and haven't looked back. (There are other alternatives too. But IMO, only one place has the best support, the most books, support of the platform and business longevity. Amazon.)

Thanks HAN. I wasn't aware of the DRM factor. As I said before I was given the Nook and it came with a lot of books in it.
The only ones I downloaded were free ones. If and when I decide to get another reader , I will definitely go with Amazon.
