[RESOLVED] Thoughs on new mobo
Since my previous mobo is dead I've just about decided to stick with Gigabtye and wondered if any of you have any negative or positive thoughts on the one in the link. I've read the reviews which some attest it doesn't have drivers for Linux but that's a Linux problem not the brand of motherboard problem. I don't run Linux anyway, so that's a moot point.

I also considered MSI, which Train swears by, but I can't really find one that doesn't include a PS/2 port. This Gigabtye does have a single PS/2 port but also has the two USB ports included for mouse and keyboard in the upper back panel.
Some mobo I looking looked good on the outside, until I read further that they ship from the UK.
When did Newegg start shipping components from outside the USA? New one on me.
I'd like to stick to my budget at around $125-159.

The first in the list is a definite no. I had two of these boards that arrived DOA. Both were bought from newegg.
The second has the two PS/2 and not what I wanted, as does the ASrock and the Asus.
The MSI looks good but I didn't like this under the description:
In stock. Ships from United States. Most customers receive within 2-10 days.
I won't be ordering until after September 3rd so I have some time to decide. Thanks jdc for the input. I'll let you know when I order what I bought.

Thanks for the list, jdc. I'm currently planning on buying the Asrock one. Does any of you have used this mobo?

I've never used that board specifically as I don't really trust ASrock boards because in previous years they tended to have blown caps after a time.
jdc, on mine, I've decided to use the same Gigabtye model as the one that's dead but a new revision with USB3.1

Plus the price is just right.
And I won't have to do a wipe and reload the OS.

That sounds like a good plan. A new BIOS revision might still need some drivers updated, but you can probably avoid a Repair Install of Windows.
Most motherboard manufacturers, including ASRock, now use high quality capacitors that are not made in a back alley Chinese noodle and capacitor factory, so I wouldn't worry too much about capacitor failure on modern boards.

Should do just spiffy,
The M.2 drive would have been extra cost to buy.
Depends on what Linux they use.

Well, I hadn't intended to buy the M.2 drive but it was a added benefit for future proofing.
They didn't elaborate on which Linux. I usually just take those comments with a grain of salt, you know.

I read that post about Linux too. Giggled a bit.
M2 would have speeded the boot up and program opening.

I always giggle when a user, albeit a nitwit, makes a statement like that.
At least from looking at M.2 drives they seem to be much better in price compared to SSD drives for the same amount of GBs.

New mobo on its way. I ordered it this morning early and its already shipped. Goodness I can hardly wait to get my desktop back. This laptop is okay for awhile but for everything I do online, it is sorely lacking. And it's slow to edit photos on too.
