Cant go back from Windows 10 to Windows 7

My dell desktop came with windows 7 pre-installed, I upgraded to windows 10 but it has been over 1 one year.
I saved the Windows.old folder on an external hard drive and now copied it back to c:\ but when I try to downgrade I don't have the option to go back to windows 7.

    what can I do ?

The time limit for rollback was 30 days ( and is now 10 days )

There is ( or was ) a trick to extend this but you also needed to save an additional folder called C:\$Windows~BT, you might want to check if you backed that one up as well.

Otherwise, check if you have a recovery partition still intact holding the old version of windows 7, many computers came with that instead of physical media, typically you would see something at boot saying "Press f# for recovery options"

    Otherwise

Get your original windows 7 disk and do a fresh install, or did you make an image backup that you could use?

There is no such thing as overkill. 'Open fire' and 'is it dead?' are the only sane options when threatened.
